Mansfield Woodhouse man with Parkinsons joins team of eight in Tour De France mountain challenge

A Mansfield Woodhouse dad with Parkinson’s Disease is heading a cycling team on part of the Tour De France to raise money for charity.

Brian Hall, 60 will be part of a team of nine to cycle from the bottom to the top of the Alp D’Huez in July.

The team hopes the eight mile ride will raise funds for Funding Neuro.

Brian of Marples Avenue, said: “Myself, my son Kev Voodoo Paintworx Hall, my daughter Jo Hall. My daughter in law Amy Jane Hall, James Wilson, James Drennon, Richard Antcliff and Paul Hoskins will all be trying to climb the 21 bends of the 13 kilometre mountain.

“Whether we all succeed to me is irrelevant, though I’m sure we will.

We are all training hard each week and I personally, having had the condition for over 20 years, am so proud of them all for even attempting it in the first place.

“My neurologist Dr Bajaj says any exercise is good to slow down the symptoms of Parkinsons, especially cycling.”

Funding Nero raises money for research on treatments and cures for neurological conditions.

The charity is currently raising £900,000 needed to fund trials for children with DIPG brain tumours.
