In an alert sent out by Nottinghamshire Police, the force said: “Please be aware that with immediate effect the front counter at Mansfield Woodhouse Police Station will no longer be open on a Wednesday.

“In November 2011 following a force decision to close the front counter at Mansfield Woodhouse Inspector Webster made the decision to open the front counter on a Wednesday using a member of the beat team to staff the counter and deal with enquiries from the public.

“Unfortunately very few people visit the police station and therefore Inspector Webster has taken the decision to close the counter on this day and put the member of staff to use on other tasks.

“The front counter will still be open on a Friday when it is staffed by an enquiry clerk.”
