Medal duo’s inspiringexample

Inspirational athletes will be revealing what it takes to become the best in the world at a business event this month.

The Business Boost VI event at Portland College , Mansfield, will see two world-class athletes telling their story of exactly what they had to do to become medallists at London 2012.

Paralympic swimmers Charlotte Henshaw and Ollie Hynd will be the key speakers at Business Boost VI on January 30, which is being held to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Charlotte and Ollie both won medals at the London Paralympic games; Charlotte took Silver in the 100m Breaststroke in her second appearance at a Paralympic games while Ollie took a gold, silver and bronze in the 200m Individual Medley, 400m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke respectively at his debut games.

Both swimmers will be talking about the challenges they have faced and overcome in order to reach the winners’ podium.

Attendees at Business Boost V1 are asked to make a minimum donation of £10 to Macmillan Cancer Support, which is paid on the night.

Graham Parker from Parker PR says the latest event is designed to inspire and motivate attendees.

He said: “Charlotte and Ollie are world-class athletes that have had to make sacrifices to achieve their goals, are shining examples of the determination and commitment needed when setting out on a journey.

“Anyone that is looking to realise their own dream, whether that’s in sport, business or personal life can learn a huge amount from these two young people.

“I’m so confident that these two will inspire people that if they don’t ,I will happily refund the donation to Macmillan Cancer Support that we ask people to make on the night,” added Graham.

In the 2013 New Year’s Honours, Ollie was awarded an MBE in recognition of his achievements. Ollie was born with Neuromuscular myopathy (muscular dystrophy).

Charlotte had both legs amputated when she was just 15 months old. In 20101 she set two European records, at the BT Paralympic World Cup and then at theIPC World Championships in Eindhoven.
