MP joins the Outlaws' BMX fan-club

GO-ahead Bulwell Outlaws BMX Club are getting "bigger and better every year", leader Phil Gray-Blest has claimed.

And the club’s prestige has been given a further boost by a visit from Bulwell’s Labour MP Graham Allen.

Mr Allen took part in a meeting at the Outlaws’ Sellers Wood Drive track with club members and representatives of Nottingham City Council’s recreation and parks departments.

Phil said improvements to the club’s venue had not only made it better for riders but also more appealing for spectators.

After his visit, Mr Allen said he was greatly impressed with what the club had achieved.

As the Dispatch reported last month, the club now have a new hydraulic starting ramp, thanks to financial support from Bulwell and Basford Rotary Club and the O2 It’s Your Community award scheme.

The club are hoping to build on their present membership of 60, ranging in age from four to 40, who take part in races all over the country.
