New leader in health and fitness

“Hucknall Leisure Centre has a real community atmosphere,” said the new general manager, Paul Blakemore, who stepped in to take the helm just three weeks ago.

“I’m really enjoying meeting the regulars and looking forward to welcoming new visitors to what is a fabulous facility.”

Paul has joined Everyone Active and its team at the Linby Road centre after several years with the Derbyshire Dales District Council.

“I wanted to join the Everyone Active team as they are a successful company and forward thinking,” added Paul who lives in Clowne, Derbyshire. “It has been a whirlwind three weeks but I’ve been very impressed with how this community thinks towards its health, fitness and well-being.

“And in Ashfield residents have a good range of facilities and are spoilt for choice which is vital to enable a positive impact on the district’s health.

“If the facilities are there people will use them.”

With new ideas and ‘lots of plans’ up his sleeve, Paul is hoping to listen to the comments of the centre’s customers to improve what is currently on offer.

“We’re here to provide for our customers and very often the best ideas come from them so I will be finding out what they want and working to provide it,” added Paul who will also oversee the Edgewood facility too.
