New tourism signs for Hucknall town

Hucknall town centre is proudly displaying its history and heritage as well as its attractions in new signs that are being displayed in the town’s notice boards.

The ‘Welcome to Hucknall’ signs inform visitors of ‘an historic market town full of fascinating stories’.

The colourful signs include a map highlighting the whereabouts of places of interest as well as a small description of the highlights. These include its mining and textile past, Lord Byron, Ada Lovelace, Eric Coates and Beardall Street School.

“The existing panels were in need of a refresh to both content and design,” said an Ashfield District Council spokesman. “The panels are sited along the route from the NET tram stop to the Market Place to aid visitor orientation.

“The replacement panels are partly funded by 6Cs Growth Point funding from central government (Three city councils and three county councils).
