Noisy neighbour faces the music

A BULWELL man who played loud music and held noisy parties at his home has been ordered by a court to pay a total of more than £2,700.

Liam Duffy, of Hornbeam Gardens, Snape Wood, was successfully prosecuted by Nottingham City Council for noise nuisance.

He was served a noise-abatement notice in February after complaints by neighbours.

The council's pollution-control team heard the blaring music and witnessed a party at Duffy's home when they visited the address during March and April.

After a warrant was obtained from magistrates on Wednesday April 25, bailiffs seized TVs, DVD players, video players and other equipment from the address.

Duffy failed to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court, so the case was dealt with in his absence.

He was fined a total of 1,350 – 450 for each of three offences – and ordered to pay the council's investigation and legal costs of 1,366.

The fines and costs are payable in full within the next 14 days and a forfeiture order was made for the equipment seized.
