Nottinghamshire County Council welcomes Government u-turn on trading standards
The council raised concerns about the proposal to scrap the power as part of the consultation on the Draft Consumer Rights Bill last year.
Coun Glynn Gilfoyle, Chairman of the Council’s Community Safety Committee, said: “Whilst we welcome much of the Consumer Rights legislation as it gives consumers more powers and makes their rights clearer, we raised concerns about any changes which would prevent us from catching rogue traders in the act.

Hide Ad“The scrapping of this proposal will mean we can continue to respond quickly to tip-offs and information from the public in a bid to protect residents from unscrupulous traders.”
