Officers carry out Bulwell noise operation

Community safety officers visited 334 homes and other premises across Bulwell in January to look into complaints of noise and anti-social behaviour.

This involved 210 reports being made to an ASB helpline.

But police stress that the number of such offences reported to them in the Bulwell and Bulwell Forest wards during the same month reduced by 31 per cent.

A police spokesman said: “We do not tolerate inconsiderate, un-neighbourly behaviour in our community.

“We are working closely with the local authority in a bid to combat it.

“If you have been a victim of anti-social behaviour, you can contact the police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”

Coun Alan Clark, a Labour member for Bulwell Forest ward on Nottingham City Council, said: “We encourage local residents to report incidents as this helps in deployment of community safety staff to the hotspots.”

During January, the CPOs identified 39 cases of fly-tipping in the two Bulwell wards.

Coun Clark said Deptford Crescent was a hotspot for this offence. He added that consideration was being given to removing Tarmac and fencing there and replacing it with a sloping grassed area.

With 96 Bulwell gardens found to be ‘messy’ or untidy during the same month, Coun Clark said: “There is no need to leave gardens full of debris. Nottingham is one of the few councils that provide a free bulky-waste refuse collection service.”

One dog owner was fined £666 in court for failing to remove faeces caused by his pet from Sellers Wood Drive, Bulwell.

And another was given a fixed penalty notice for a similar offence on Bulwell’s Springfield Retail Park.
