LETTER: Benefits row - Are living we in 2015 or 1615?

MP Mark Spencer said that a benefit claimant needed to be taught a lesson on time keeping for being four minutes late at the benefits office.

I understand this person had education issues and could not tell the time. His punishment for daring to be four minutes late? No heat, no light and no food for five days. Remind me is this 2015 or 1615!

I wonder how many people have their JobCentre appointments exactly on time, perhaps compensation should be paid to those who are kept waiting?

Perhaps in the light of the recent revelations about HSBC, perhaps Mr Spencer could suggest a suitable lesson/punishment that would teach them a lesson?

If he thinks four minutes tardiness deserves being kept in the dark without heating or food in winter and as we are all in this together (don’t make me laugh) what would he suggest for the theft from HMRC of possibly billions of pounds. Silly me I forgot I was talking about a Conservative MP so the punishment would be nothing less than a knighthood!
