LETTER: Cutting bin size is a rubbish idea

I cannot believe that we are considering reducing in size the fortnightly green refuse bins, we have all agreed that we need to separate recycling products away from the landfill rubbish.

I live with my wife in a three bedroom house, we look after four of our grandchildren in the morning and late afternoon while their parents are out at work.

We feed them twice a day so we are putting rubbish into our dustbin for six people (including ourselves).

I am a big believer in recycling, however I fill my green bin to the top and often a black bag over the odds, my silver bin for the recycled rubbish is three quarters full.

If most people do as I do in separating their rubbish, I cannot see how anyone can ever think we can reduce the bins to a smaller size.

I can understand that we need to save money, but we are looking in the wrong direction.

We have accepted a fortnightly collection and just get by, if we were to go down the route of reduction in bin size, we could end up with a health problem at a lot of premises.

Whoever masterminded the idea of reducing bin size, please see common sense and BIN IT.
