Shannon, 19 entered a competition on the Cadbury Inventor website last year, coming up with the idea for Shannon’s Dairy Milk Crunchy Honeycomb.
Shannon’s winning bar combines milk chocolate with golden crunchy honeycomb pieces and sweet, tasty caramel-flavoured fudge, finished with chopped hazelnuts to add a nutty crunch to every bite.
The winning bar has received an official rebrand, including an all new design and name, in preparation for its debut as the latest addition to the iconic Cadbury Dairy Milk range in 2019. The bar will return to supermarkets across the UK and Ireland, sitting alongside Cadbury-fan firm favourites such as Caramel, Fruit & Nut and Whole Nut, from January next year.
Shannon said: “ I’ve always had a love for honeycomb and caramel, which are my two favourite flavours. The mix of golden honeycomb pieces and caramel flavoured fudge add that extra sweet flavour to the bar. Plus, with a little extra crunch from the chopped hazelnuts, I knew it would be a winning formula."
The bar not only won over the hearts and taste buds of the nation but was backed all the way to victory by Love Island presenter, and self-confessed honeycomb enthusiast, Laura Whitmore.
Laura Whitmore, said, “I had no doubts that the Cadbury Dairy Milk Crunchy Honeycomb bar was going to win. There’s nothing like this in the UK, and I’m going to be the first in line to get my hands on it when it makes its official debut next year as Honeycomb & Nuts. I said I would attempt an Irish jig if the bar won, and I’ve delivered. Queen Bee has officially arrived!”
Shannon has been on an epic journey to create her winning formula, including travelling to the Cadbury Kitchen in Bournville, the home of Cadbury, where she worked with chocolate experts to experiment with over 90,000 possible combinations. Since then Shannon has seen her bar hit supermarket shelves nationwide before being crowned the nation’s favourite.
