Hucknall cinema boss can't wait to shout action on re-opening

The manager of the Arc Cinema in Hucknall says he can’t wait to welcome movie fans back to the venue again.

The cinema is due to re-open on May 17 as part of the next stage of lockdown easing.

And manager Mark Gallagher is looking forward to re-opening as much as he would a big new movie premiere or major blockbuster title coming to his screens.

He said: “Since taking over last July when we reopened I’ve been taken aback by the love for the cinema from the people of Hucknall

"It’s shown me a side of the town I didn’t see before.

"When we sat on the doorstep for three days before Christmas, in the cold, selling gift cards the kind words of support from customers was overwhelming.”

Mark has been helping movie fans get their Hollywood fix during lockdown by running weekly YouTube movie quizzes.

"He continued: “I’ve been releasing these every Saturday night and they take me all week to do they’re a real effort.

"There will be one more released before we re-open bringing the total to 20 quizzes.

"Once things are normal we’ll be doing one-off themed quizzes as and when we get time.

"It’s been great to keeping touch with our customers by way of these Saturday night quizzes and we cant wait to be open and see these people in the flesh again.”

The worldwide pandemic meant the release of many big film titles was delayed last yea and this, the most famous being Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond in No Time To Die.

But with release dates now settling down, movie fans can look forward to a whole galaxy of big new films, including Space Jam 2, The Suicide Squad, Dune and the hotly anticipated fourth instalment of The Matrix franchise.

Some release dates have actually been brought the release of their films for them to be out on May 17, including Peter Rabbit 2, while Sony has brought forward the release of Hotel Transylvania 4 to July.

And the new Bond film will now be out on September 30 and

Mark said: “I’m excited for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Top Gun Maverick and the new Spider-Man movie.

"But I’m most excited for the new Hotel Transylvania film as we showed one of them during our last weekend open.”
