The Hucknall community has joined together to make sure no child goes hungry during the school holidays.

Among those offering support to families through these difficult time is The Nabb Inn in conjunction with its sister pub, The Bowman, who are offering free children’s take away meals until the end of half term.

A post on the Nabb Inn’s Facebook page said: “In these uncertain times, when communities face job losses and loss of wages, I think we can all agree on one thing, no child should go hungry.”

Annesley Road Fish Bar, along with its sister branches, Kings Catch and The Market Fish and Chips, is also supporting the #EndChildFoodPoverty campaign.

A post on Annesley Road Fish Bar’s Facebook said: “Our objective is to help and support not only local families with children who are able to claim free school dinners, but also the wider community who have been adversely affected due to the recent pandemic.

"We’ve been overwhelmed with your continued support throughout the years, especially in recent times.”

The branches will be serving meals free of charge from 11.30am to 2pm until Friday, October 30. All children have to be accompanied by an adult when they come to order.

The Hideout at Hucknall said: “We in the hospitality business understand how hard times can be at the moment, during this pandemic.

"So we would like to support our amazing community that has been supporting us since we re- opened.

"During the school holiday if things are especially hard, reach out. We will happily provide a kids packed lunch free of charge, of sandwich, crisps and a piece of fruit.

"We’ve all fallen on hard times at one point or another, let’s get through this together.”

You can also help support families by making a donation to Hucknall’s food bank at Under One Roof in Vine Terrace, Hucknall.

A post on the Hucknall Food Bank Facebook page said: “If you know of anyone who is struggling at this time please get in touch with the food bank. We are here to help and we do not want any child to go hungry.”
