Maxine Lewis, a customer services assistant is taking part in the charity’s Brave The Shave fundraiser outside the branch on High Street at 2.30pm on Friday, July 9.

Maxine, who is known to many people locally as one of the faces of The Nottingham in Hucknall has already raised more than £500 in sponsorship.

Anyone wishing to donate can visit her fundraising page here or drop money into collection buckets that can be found in-branch and will also be available at the ‘cut-off point’ for the event on the day

Maxine said: “I’m a little nervous about having all my hair shaved off because never before have I had what will be such a short cut.

“But at the end of the day it’s small sacrifice to make to help raise funds for such a fantastic cause.

"I’m hoping to make as much money as possible and would like to say a huge thank you to those people who have kindly contributed so far.”

Fellow Hucknall branch team member Helen Beale, who has been giving Maxine a ‘dress rehearsal cut’, added: “We are all so proud of Maxine for doing this.

"She loves her long hair so it really is a big sacrifice for her to make.

“However, like the rest of us she has been really heartened to raise such a large amount so far and hopefully there’s plenty more to come.”
