Hilda Tilcock, known as Tilly, reached the milestone on September 2, and she marked the occasion with a party at the George Street Club.

Coun Arnie Hankin, deputy chairman of Ashfield District Council, said: “It was an honour to present flowers to the wonderful Tilly. She has lived a fascinating life and it was a pleasure to meet her and hear all her stories about growing up in Ashfield.”

Tilly is known as an icon for older people thanks to how much of an active member of the community she is and she was made Citizen of the year by Ashfield District Council in 2008.
