One Hucknall resident contact the Dispatch to ask if it was the case that the improvement works currently taking place at the site, including resurfacing a large part of the car park and the removal of some trees, were preparation works ready for a brand new medical centre to be built.

But Ashfiled District Council said this was not the case and the site would be remaining as a car park.

In a statement, the council said: “Ashfield District Council is resurfacing Piggins Croft car park as part of town centre improvements for Hucknall and will offer an enhanced parking experience for residents using the town centre car park.”

Ashfield District Council say there are no plans to build a new medical centre on the Piggins Croft car park site
