Pupils don hard hats for engineering day

More than 150 pupils ditched the classroom and become bridge experts for the day.

The year nine students from the National C of E Academy, in Hucknall, took part in interactive Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) sessions, on which they had the opportunity to build a real 12m long cable stayed bridge as part of a STEM Careers Day.

Having assembled the bridge they all walked across it before deconstructing it, learning about bridges, teamwork and civil engineering as they went.
