Retirement homes plan revealed

McCarthy & Stone says the development will provide a mix of around 37 one and two bedroom apartments with a range of communal facilities, professionally landscaped gardens and associated parking.

A spokesman said the buildings will have an ‘attractive, traditional design which positively contributes to the local area’, a single vehicle access point off Nottingham Road and around 25 parking spaces.

Darren Humphreys, regional managing director, said: “We want to hear from the local community and our future home-owners before we submit a planning application.

“We will be displaying our plans at a public exhibition and our project team will be there to answer questions and listen to feedback on what we have done so far. The comments we receive will help us tailor our proposal into something people will want to see, enjoy and call home.”

The gardens will retain most of the mature hedging and there will be new tree planting. Outline planning permission for residential development was granted in November 2014.
