Pupils from primary schools across Erewash borough, including Hallam Fields, Mapperley, Dallimore, Chaucer, Field House and Ashbrook Junior, gathered at Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy to discuss their plans for Olympics.

The children are all young ambassadors for Erewash School Sport Partnership (ESSP) and their role is to promote the Olympics within their own schools.

They also talked about what they had been doing in their schools to celebrate the Olympics and discussed their plans for the future.

Previously, pupils were given the opportunity to try out Paralympic sports including boccia, goalball and seated volleyball using special equipment.

Debbie Farmer, a higher level teaching assistant at Mapperley CE Primary School, said her pupils were getting into the spirit of the Olympics.
