School cake bake helps support Maggie’s cancer charity

On the 16th may a charity bake sale took place at Hucknall’s Holgate Academy in aid of Maggies Cancer Support, which is a charity based in Nottingham at the City Hospital.

It helps patients together with their family and friends that are struggling to cope with cancer or just feel like talking.

Anyone can go along and talk and even join in their classes and activities and receive support and advice.

A baking session was held on the day before where a few pupils and teachers donated their time to help bake cakes.

The actual bake sale took place at break and lunch in the quad. After selling many cakes (and a generous donation from some of the teachers), it was finally over with the money raised totalling a grand sum of £93.58.

“Special thanks to Beth Wharmby, Milly Kennedy, Fallon Gunn and Mr Siddons who helped plan, organise and bake,” said school spokesman, Phil Bailey.

“This means a lot so thank-you to everyone who was involved.”
