State-of-the-art printing press arrives from Japan

A £1 MILLION state-of-the-art printing-press from Japan has been installed at long-established Hucknall firm Redmond Graphics.

A massive operation was required, involving cranes and shifting equipment operated by a team of engineers at the firm's Watnall Road base.

The investment will launch the company from a regional printer to one capable of supplying competitively across the country. It will also boost employment in the town.

Managing director Maurice Champion said: "This is one of the first Komori B1 presses to be shipped from Japan and installed in this country.

"I am local to this area and proud that we are able to create jobs and compete nationwide in Hucknall."

Andy Whyatt, who is key account manager at Redmond and has 30 years' experience in the print trade, said: "In all my years in the trade, I have never seen such a sophisticated piece of equipment.

"This really is state-of-the-art and shows that Hucknall is a fast-changing, reviving town."

Redmond Graphics, who currently employ 30 workers, have been at their Watnall Road site for six years. But they have had a presence in Hucknall since 1909.
