Nottinghamshire residents are being warned of possible surface water flooding issues as heavy rain is forecast from 4pm this afternoon, Thursday 3rd October, through to Friday morning.

Forecasts show heavy rainfall over Nottinghamshire but it is unclear the exact locations that it will affect.

Residents are advised to check the Met Office weather forecast frequently and listen to the local radio for traffic disruption information.

Householders at risk of flooding are encouraged to put flood protection measures in place to protect their property.

Drivers are warned to think before they drive through flood water, not only because of the risk of getting stuck but also because they could inadvertently be causing flooding to nearby properties.

The county council is on stand-by and will be working with the emergency services and other organisations within the county to respond to flood emergencies and support local communities that may be affected by the rainfall.
