The closing date for applications is 27th June and the competition will be judged during the week commencing 14th July by a panel of tenants and directors of Newark and Sherwood Homes’ Board.

The competition, which is in its ninth year, celebrates tenants’ hard work and improvement of their gardens in six different categories: Best Communal Garden, Best Overall Garden, Best Small Garden, Best New Tenant Garden, Most Improved Garden and The Annie Huthwaite Special Award for Most Outstanding Garden.

Rebecca Rance, Chief Executive of Newark and Sherwood Homes, said: “Our Garden Competition always attracts a lot of interest and is always a difficult one to judge because of the high standards of the entrants. We are encouraging even more new entrants this year, which is why we opened up the competition so people can nominate other tenants’ gardens. So many of our tenants have great pride in their gardens and we look forward to seeing them brighten up our local communities and neighbourhoods.”

All the winners receive a plaque and the gift of a plant to grow in their garden, at a special event held later in the summer.
