Hide AdThe money he raises will go to Diabetes UK, which is Tesco’s charity of the year and is the UK’s leading charity that cares for, connects with and campaigns on behalf of every person affected by or at risk of diabetes.
Said Nick (36), of Parkland View, Huthwaite: “Mount Kenya is the second largest mountain in Africa.
“It’s not as developed or touristy as Kilimanjaro and is a couple of hundred metres shorter but they say it’s a more challenging, steeper walk because it’s more vertical.”

Hide AdNick is part of a group of around 20 Tesco employees from around the country who are taking part in the climb early next year.
It will be his first proper mountain climb though he has done other Tesco charity walks in the Lake District.
His fundraising target is £3,795, which includes the cost of travelling out to Kenya plus money that will be donated to Diabetes UK.

Hide AdNick said he has funded a large amount of the costs himself and is doing a lot of fundraising in store which has helped him to realise just how many people are affected by diabetes.
He said: “People have been approaching me and talking to me about it from all walks of life, from a fitness instructor to mums of small children.
“The fundraising has been a real eye-opener to the amount of people - ordinary healthy looking people - who are affected by diabetes.”

Hide AdNick can be sponsored for his mountain climb at www.justgiving.com/Nick-Prost1/ and is well on the way to reaching his target.
He added: “For me there’s two mountains - the fundraising mountain and the actual mountain. I have never done anything like it in my life.”
Tesco Extra is also set to offer free diabetes tests at its instore pharmacy for one week in support of the charity trek.
