Tories rage over Lib Dem leaflet

Couns Robert Rankin, Gordon Riley and John Dymock are fuming about the ‘Focus’ publication.

A square on the top right-hand corner of the leaflet is headed ‘Two-Horse Race’.

It reads: “Everyone knows the Lib Dems are the only challengers to Labour locally. The Tories have no councillors in Ashfield!”

Coun Rankin said he and his fellow Hucknall Conservative members raised the matter at their party’s headquarters but no alteration was made in a re-print of the leaflet.

He added that a complaint had now been made to the council’s standards board.

Council leader Coun Jason Zadrozny (Lib Dem), who edited the leaflets, acknowledged that a mistake had been made.

He said the leaflets were targeted at areas of Ashfield that had no Tory representation.
