TWINKLE-toed performers, aged between three and 70, from a Hucknall dance school will step into the limelight this weekend.

For all 150 pupils of the long-running and respected Sarah Adamson School Of Dance, based at the John Godber Centre on Ogle Street, will stage their annual ‘A Chance To Dance’ show at Mansfield’s Palace Theatre.

There will be one performance tomorrow and two on Sunday with a large chunk of the proceeds from ticket sales going to the Parents Association for Seriously Ill Children (PASIC).

The charity offer financial and emotional support to families with ill children and rely totally on donations and fundraising drives.

So the expected 1,000-plus raised from the event, which is in its seventh year, will be a real fillip for the charity.

The crowd will be treated to two hours of fresh and innovative routines demonstrating the talents of the dancers in ballet, tap and modern.

Hucknall woman Sarah Teer, who has been the principal of the school for the past 21 years, says organising the show is a lot of hard work but she is looking forward to seeing the finished article.

A former professional dancer, Sarah started the school at St Peter and St Paul’s Church on Ruffs Drive in the town and now stages classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

“It is hard work but I love this show,” she said. “It is their chance to dance and it gives me goose bumps seeing them on the stage.

“The parents love it, I love it and I hope that everyone who sees it and takes part benefits in some way.

“I’m so pleased that it is going in the Dispatch as well because all my members buy it and it is something that will go in our scrapbooks.”
