Unpaid work for Bulwell man who assaulted cop and damaged cell

A Bulwell man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work for damaging a police car and a cell, and assaulting a female officer.

Neil Andrew Hopkin, 37, of Stoney Houghton Gardens, admitted two counts of criminal damage when he appeared before magistrates in Nottingham on December 7, last year.

The court heard he caused £200 of damage to the interior of a police car in Bulwell, and £530 of damage to a cell in Nottingham, on December 6, 2015.

He also denied assaulting DO Cartledge on the same date, but was found guilty in his absence at a trial on March 9.

He admitted failing to attend court after he was released on bail, when he appeared in court on October 4.

A 12 month community order was imposed and Hopkin was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.

He must pay £730 compensation for the damage and £40 to the officer. He must also pay £630 court costs.
