Veteran's 52nd year at Christmas fair

SANTA Claus provided Hucknall Parish Church with the ideal pre-Christmas gift.

For his appearance at the annual festive bazaar helped raise 1,035.

The event was held at the John Godber Centre on Ogle Street, which is round the corner from the Market Place church.

Attractions included a cake stall, bric-a-brac, craft stalls, a tombola and refreshments.

But again one of the most popular stalls was that run by dedicated 91-year-old Rene Flint.

She has been a stalwart at the event for the last 52 years and her attraction offers visitors the chance to pay 1, pick a wrapped box and take pot luck as to their prize.

The money raised at the bazaar will go to general church funds. But the total will be boosted further by a raffle, which was drawn at Wednesday's Hucknall Christmas Carnival.
