Villagers show how their gardens grow

Ravenshead folk showed up in their droves for the villages’s Garden Society Show.

And all manner of horticultural and culinary delights were on display for the delight of both viewing public and exhibitors.

Of all the entries on the day, Ray Fifoot did particularly well.

Mr Fifoot took the Perpetual Challenge Cup for his fruit and vegetables and the Banksian Medal for most points won in the vegetable, fruit and flower sections.

Other winners were Jim Kent, with Mrs Spencer’s Perpetual Challenge Cup for his flowers, Gill Foster took Candelabra for baking and preserves and John Walton took the Rose Trophy.

The Fuchsia Award went to Alan Browne and the Junior Award went to Georgina Brown.
