Warning by judge over bottom pinching

A Warsop man has been given a nine-month community order after leaning over a shop counter and pinching a sales assistant’s bottom.

Mansfield Magistrates’ Court heard how David Peace (56), of The Willows, had pleaded guilty to the incident of sexual assault on 28th February.

As she passed sentence, District Judge Diane Baker said: “What you have done is extremely stupid and a mistake which frightened a young lady working in a shop.

“I accept you thought it was banter and when you realised it was not you apologised.”

As well as being ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge, Peace was ordered to undertake supervision to help him realise his behaviour was ‘entirely inappropriate.’
