Warrant for Worksop woman with '˜psychic' drug hallucinations

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Worksop woman who failed to attend court because of drug-induced hallucinations that made her believe she was a psychic.

Leanne Darlington, 31, of Featherston Avenue, failed to appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 12, to face charges of criminal damage and possession of amphetamine.

But Darlington’s drug worker contacted the court to say she was not in a fit state to appear because she was suffering auditory and visual hallucinations which had been brought about by amphetamine psychosis.

District Judge Tim Spruce said: “I am satisfied that the correct way forward is to issue a warrant for failing to answer bail.

“Self-induced intoxication is not an excuse. It is difficult to see how she will appear before the court if we don’t issue a warrant.”

Darlington is charged with causing criminal damage to a car in Worksop and possessing the class B drug amphetamine at Newark police station on April 26.
