Weather forecast for the East Midlands

Hundreds of Nottinghamshire residents were awoken in the early hours of the morning as an intense storm rocked the county.Spectacular displays of lightning, rumbles of thunder and heavy downpours were seen and heard for about an hour from 2.30am.The dramatic weather followed above-average temperatures yesterday.East Midlands Ambulance Service said its paramedics dealt with 22 road crashes between midnight and 8am.Following last night’s stormy weather, it will be rather cloudy at first, but brightening up during the morning to leave a fine and dry afternoon with some sunny spells developing, and feeling very warm. Continuing fine and dry through the evening. Maximum Temperature 26°C.

Tonight it will be staying dry throughout the night, with light winds and some long clear spells, particularly in the early hours of Sunday. Minimum Temperature 14°C.

On Sunday it will be dry with sunny spells for much of the day. Heavy thundery showers will develop in the late afternoon, clearing during the evening. Winds mainly light, but gusty in heavy showers. Maximum Temperature 23°C.
