Youngsters help refine children's book

A GROUP of would-be editors from a Hucknall school have helped an author give a youngster's touch to his latest children's book.

The Holgate Comprehensive pupils were in year seven when they were sent a transcript of Tony Bradman’s ‘Alien Betrayal’.

They read through the transcript and underlined words they didn’t understand. They also suggested words or sentences that might be considered more appropriate and up-to-date by children in modern society.

Now Tony has used some of the ideas to make changes to the book, and has also introduced some pictures after suggestions by the children.

Holgate librarian Ann Bailey said: “The publisher has contacted us in the past and this year, we decided to really throw ourselves into it.

“All the students have been given a copy of the book and they are acknowledged in the book for their contributions.”

Teacher Christine Jones said: “The author was really appreciative.”
