Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off is back - full celebrity line up and how to watch

It’s the feel-good programme we all need to lift our spirits and get us back to baking copious amounts of banana bread.

That's right - Celebrity Bake Off it back!

Channel 4’s hit baking show will return with a star-studded line up for the Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) series, and it does not disappoint.

Whose soggy bottom can we expect on our TV this spring? This is who is taking part, the judges and where the money raised goes.

Who are the 2021 contestants?

The celebrities taking part in the five-episode series include Little Mix’s Jade Thirwall, Scottish actor James McAvoy (Atonement, Split) and Olympic medalists Dame Kelly Holmes and Paralympian Ade Adepitan.

We can also expect baked baps and stiff peaks from actor and comedian John Bishop, TV presenter Anneka Rice, comedian and presenter Tom Allen, author and comedian David Baddiel, Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, musician Dizzee Rascal, radio DJ Nick Grimshaw and TV presenter Stacey Dooley.

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, the list doesn’t end there.

The show will feature four celebrities each week, with others including musician KSI, author and psychotherapist Philippa Perry, singer Alexandra Burke, actor Reece Shearsmith, comedian Rob Beckett, singer Anne-Marie, Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle, and comedian Katherine Ryan.

Who are the SU2C judges and hosts?

It wouldn’t be The Great British Bake Off without Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.

The pair will return to criticise the celebrities’ bakes, just a few months after crowning the GBBO 2020 winner in November. Scottish student Peter Hawkins was the youngest ever to win the show, which was filmed during the coronavirus pandemic.

Funnyman and Little Britain star Matt Lucas will host in the iconic tent, with the responsibility of "keeping time and spirits up".

What can we expect from the show?

Each week, the bakers are expected to bake a Signature, technical and Showstopper.

Stories about how SU2C have supported people living with cancer and their families will also feature and viewers will get information on how to donate to the UK charity.

The show will air weekly for five consecutive weeks, with four contestants battling to be crowned Star Baker.

Executive producer the Bake Off Kieran Smith said: "Bake Off is extremely proud to support Stand Up To Cancer.

"It has been a difficult year for charities and we sincerely hope that this series will offer a lot of fun, but also some much-needed funds in the fight against cancer."

Sarah Lazenby, head of formats and features at Channel 4, added: "What we all need right now is more joy. Bake Off is serving up yet another dollop of fun courtesy of some very willing celebrities.

"We can't promise a huge helping of baking inspiration, but we can deliver some much-needed laughs."

Where do viewers’ donations go?

Stand Up To Cancer has raised more than £62 million, funding 55 clinical trials and projects involving 11,000 cancer patients across the country, according to Channel 4.

The project is a joint venture between Channel 4 and Cancer research UK which seeks to speed up progress in life-saving cancer research.

It takes treatments from labs and accelerates the rate at which they are offered to cancer patients, in order to test and treat their illness.

The project hopes to support targets of achieving a survival rate of three in four cancer patients by 2034.

According to Cancer Research UK, at present nearly 50 percent of people survive 10 years beyond their diagnosis and the survival rate has doubled in the last 40 years in the UK.

When is Celebrity Bake Off on TV?

SU2C Bake Off will run for five weeks, every Wednesday from 10 March on Channel 4 at 8pm.

The series will be available to watch on channel 4, and also available on the channel’s All4 catch up streaming service.
