Abacus Central Midlands League round-up - October 24

At last there was something to smile about for the two bottom markers in the Black Dragon Badges North division, both Dinnington Town and Welbeck Welfare registering their first points of the season.

Dinnington took a point from their home match with Easington United, Nicky Holland giving them the lead in the 68th minute before Danny Barron equalised with a penalty four minutes from time for Easington.

Welbeck must have thought they were on their way to maximum points as they led Dronfield Town Reserves by two goals at half time and 3-1 midway through the second period, but had to settle for a point in a 3-3 draw.

Josh Brentnall, Robbie Savage scored for Welbeck, with an own goal completing their total, while Will Earl got two for Dronfield, Wayne Garrity also netting.

The match at the top of the table also ended all square, Appleby Frodingham and Phoenix fighting out a 1-1 draw, Steven McCarron with the goal for Frod, Steve McDonnell replying for Phoenix.

Glapwell climbed to second after a convincing 5-1 win at Brodsworth Welfare. Adam Kimberley gave them a fifth minute lead which was doubled by Josh Parfitt. Rod Pursehouse pulled one back for the home side but further goals from Parfitt, Jack Hutchinson and Tom Norris meant Glapwell returned home with the points.

Askern’s excellent run continued as they brought Ollerton Town down to earth with a 5-1 win.

Michael Attard and a Gary Mundy penalty gave Askern the lead before Chris Hewitt got one back on the stroke of half time. A three-goal burst in six minutes, one from Attard and two from Shaun Mundy, keeps Askern well up with the leaders.

Five goals in the first 20 minutes got Bentley Colliery’s game with Newark Town off to an explosive start, Will Fry’s two for Newark being cancelled out by Matt Wilson, Lee Winterman and Dan Reed.

Winterman got his second to put Bentley two up with 20 minutes left, but goals from Ricky North and Tom Wilford gave Newark a point in a match where the final outcome was always in doubt.

Harworth Colliery couldn’t have left it much later to claim the points at Bilsthorpe, Nathan Millington’s winner coming in the 92nd minute, while at Moorends Thorne Colliery’s game with Retford ended goalless.

Belper United sit at the top of the Black Dragon Badges South division table after they took advantage of defeats for Eastwood Community and Sherwood Colliery.

Belper travelled to Clay Cross, coming away with the points after a 3-0 win over the Millers. They were off to a lightning start, Scott Slater scoring after 30 seconds, Sam Vickers doubling the score with just two minutes on the clock. Vickers got another in the second half, the visitors also missing a penalty.

Sherwood Colliery also started well, Julian Topliss giving them a third minute lead at home to Selston and getting a second on 37 minutes.

Selston staged a remarkable recovery after the break, Carl Moore pulling one back before Ben Moore equalised three minutes from time. The visitors still weren’t finished, Aaron Brady snatching the winner three minutes into added time.

Eastwood Community also went down at home, losing 3-1 to Hucknall Rolls. Jack Smith put Rolls in front before Matt Brian levelled things, the visitors taking the points with one from Rory Smith and an own goal.

The most eye-catching scoreline of the day was at Greenwich Avenue where Linby Colliery thrashed hosts Bulwell 8-1.

Joe Butler led the way with a hat trick and there were also goals for Ruban Mitchell, Ash Winfield, Tom Coupe, Matt Murphy and Kaylum Mitchell, Ross McCaughey’s reply for the Bulls can have been little consolation.

Hucknall Town completed a double over Collingham, coming back from Station Road with a 3-1 win. Leon Aikman scored twice for the visitors with Danny Leak also on the scoresheet, while Danny Houghton was on target for Collingham.

Swanwick Pentrich Road recovered from last week’s stutter, goals from Ash Buxton (2), Guy Taylor, Richard Wall and Ian Milsom giving the Swans a 5-3 win over Holbrook St Michaels.

Southwell City picked up their second point of the season following a 3-3 draw with Pinxton. Josh Madin and Tom Ellis put Pinxton two up before goals Daniel Gleeson, Stewart Gill and Jonathan Nussey gave the home side hopes of a first win. It was not to be, however, Pete Stubley rescuing a point for the visitors.

Blidworth Welfare and Matlock Town met for the second time in three days, sharing the points after a 2-2 draw. Gaz Curtis and Keenan Leeds scored for Blidworth, Matlock replying through Matt Andrews and Dave Edge.

Hucknall Town still lead the YourFootballWorld.com reserve division after a four-goal win at Teversal with goals from Rorie Francis (2), Aaron Evans and Ethan Barnes.

Graham Street Prims had to come from behind to beat Belper United, who led through a seventh minute goal from John Boyd. Prims rallied after the interval, Brad Ellis and Michael Coyle giving them the points.

Richard Jeffery scored four as Swanwick won 6-1 at Holbrook Sports, the other goals coming from David Robinson and Matt Phillips.

Mickleover RBL were 5-2 winners against Blidworth Welfare, scoring through Daniel Minto, who got two, Piers Thompson, Jamie Turner and Daniel Dolby, while Joe Patrick and Tom Hunt replied for Blidworth.

Sherwood Colliery were 5-1 winners at Holbrook St Michaels.
