Bulwell look forward to Notts Senior League

A POOR performance – but three more points and an 18th straight win for champions-elect BULWELL in the Premier Division of the Notts Amateur Alliance.

Bulwell, who look set to go up to the Notts Senior League next season, beat improving Netherfield Albion 3-2.

But in a dull game, neither side really adjusted to the high wind and it offered more evidence that, unless displays improve, the locals' 100% run will soon be gone.

Bulwell played some neat football but had to wait until the 36th minute before deservedly breaking the deadlock – midfielder Jay Knight heading home a pinpoint cross that left the 'keeper rooted to the spot.

Calamitous defending enabled Netherfield to level four minutes into the second period.

But it was the wake-up call Bulwell needed and they restored their advantage within a minute when superb wing-play by Daniel Fuller was matched by a sublime finish from top marksman Duane Haywood.

Anthony Cross then shot wide of an empty net before the third goal on the hour when man-of-the-match Daren Spencer found Knight at the far post for a tap-in.

Fuller also missed a sitter, blasting wide from six yards, but to their credit spirited Netherfield rallied and snatched an 84th minute consolation goal.
