Middlesex lead Notts by 373 runs at lunch
Having resumed on their overnight score of 312 for 7, the visitors piled on the agony for Notts courtesy of eighth wicket pair Dawid Malan and James Harris.
In the end, Harris, who looked at ease on a wicket that improved throughout day one, was bowled by Brett Hutton, for 73 off 168 balls.
Toby Roland-Jones struck three fours in reaching 14 before he became Hutton’s third victim, at 356 for 9, and 18 runs later, Middlesex were all out when Harry Gurney trapped Tim Murtagh lbw. Malan carried his bat to finish unbeaten on 182, off 270 deliveries.
Notts had reached 1 for 0 when the sides retired for an early lunch due to rain.
