Notts cricket legend Derek Randall celebrates 65 not out

Notts cricket legend Derek Randall celebrates his 65th birthday today.

The Retford man played first-class cricket for his county, and was an England star in the late 70s and early 80s.

Randall became one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1980.

One of his highlights as a batsman was a brilliant knock of 174 in the Centenary Test at the MCG in 1977.

He played 47 tests and 49 one day internationals for his country, as a right-handed batsman.

For Notts, with whom he played until 1993, Randall scored 1,000 runs in a season eight times, took 361 catches and 13 wickets at 31.00.

Post retirement he became a coach and journalist.
