NPL preview: Top four face each other

Match of the day could be at Clifton Campus, where Clifton Village welcome Rolls Royce Leisure in a battle of second versus third.

Both sides will be hoping to bounce back from their first defeats of the season in round seven, something that knocked Clifton from the top of the table.

Vying for the title of match of the day is the clash at Birchover Park, where leaders Cuckney travel to take on fourth placed West Indian Cavaliers.

Victory last week pushed Cuckney 10 points clear at the top, whilst Cavs kept their title hopes alive with a win at Rolls Royce to leave them 17 points behind the Bears.

Since opening day defeat at Birchover, Cavs have seen their three subsequent home matches either fail to start or fail to finish.

In the big game at the foot of the table, Mansfield Hosiery Mills host Ordsall Bridon looking to cut the 27 point gap between them.

The Millers have managed a couple of winning draws so far while Ordsall have lost all four of their matches that have been completed, but coming out with a positive result here could boost their survival chances.

Plumtree sit in fifth and will be looking to take advantage of whichever sides above them drop points by getting the better of Kimberley Institute at the PCG.

The Plums sit 22 points back of Cuckney, while defeat for Kimberley could see them start to lose touch with the mid-table pack.

Another side hoping to take advantage of the top four playing each other is Caythorpe.

Coming off the back of a nervy league win and a more convincing cup victory on Sunday, they will be in good spirits for the trip to Radcliffe-on-Trent.

The Riversiders have yet to taste a positive result and have not avoided defeat since opening day.

Their visitors have struggled away from home so this looks like being far from straight forward.

The day’s remaining fixture sees the Notts Cricket Board Academy side make the journey to Sookholme to take on Welbeck Colliery.

The Colliers could move into the top half of the table with a first home win of the season, while the Academy will be hoping to build on their first win of the season and pull themselves further from the relegation zone.

All games are scheduled to commence at 12.30pm.
