Whilst the England team go into battle on the pitch this summer, including this week’s Test match at Trent Bridge, there will be another Englishman hoping to claim victory away from the on field action.

Waitrose, the England Cricket Team Sponsor, which has a shop in Nottingham’s Trinity Square, invited chefs from each of the grounds to the Waitrose Cookery School in London to pit their best culinary skills against each other in creating inspirational recipes for the perfect summer of cricket and food.

The chefs – from Lord’s, The Kia Oval, The Ageas Bowl, Emirates Old Trafford, Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground, Bristol County Ground, Edgbaston, Trent Bridge, Headingley and the SWALEC Stadium – prepared their dishes under the watchful eye of Dhruv Baker, 2010 Masterchef winner, Gordon McDermott, executive chef at the Waitrose Cookery School, and former England cricketer & ECB Selector, Angus Fraser.

All the chefs were challenged to come up with the perfect summer recipe, with Trevor serving up a dish of pork & Stilton burgers.

Waitrose is now calling on cricket and food fans across the country to vote for their winner so that an overall victor of the Waitrose Cricket Cook Off can be announced following a packed schedule of international cricket this summer.

Fans can view the chefs in action and select their winning dish on the Waitrose Cricket website – http://bit.ly/CricketCookOff.

Dhruv Baker, 2010 Masterchef winner and head judge, said: “I was astounded by the quality of dishes served up by the 10 chefs taking part in the Waitrose Cricket Cook Off.
