Willows and Wright keep Hucknall in the title race

Greg Willows continued his superb form for Hucknall with another century as they thrashed Mansfield Hosiery Mills by 132 runs in the Nottinghamshire Premier League.

Willows cracked 118 off 100 balls, with five fours and nine sixes, as Hucknall post 265-7 in a rain-affected innings reduced to 46 overs.

Willows and skipper Sam Johnson (52) added 134 for the third wicket to set Hucknall up before others chipped in down the order to take the hosts past 250.

In reply, Mansfield were going steadily at 111-3 – only to then suffer a disastrous collapse that saw them lose their last seven wickets for just 22, including one spell of where five wickets went down for just one run.

Jake Wright was the chief destroyer for Hucknall with 5-37 and Jacob Taylor also picked up two wickets as Mansfield were fired out for 133.

The result leaves Hucknall in third, two points behind second-placed Cavaliers & Carrington – who dropped points in a dramatic tie with Wollaton.

Both Hucknall and Cavaliers will be hoping they, and others, can reel back in leaders Kimberley Institute, who have a 12-point lead at the top after winning nine out nine so far this season.

At the other end of the table, Papplewick & Linby are now just two points above the relegation zone after 96-run defeat by Clipstone.

Ben Bhabra took the bowling honours for Papplewick with 5-37 as he and Sam Walker (3-46) restricted Clipstone to 202-9 in a rain-reduced innings of 38 overs, with only Haider El Ehsan (56), Said Chauhan (30) and Smith Thakar (26) the main scorers for the visitors.

Papplewick got off to a great start in reply as Byron Hatton-Lowe (41) and Sam Watson (44) shared an opening stand of 81.

But a nightmare collapse followed as the last nine wickets went down for just 25 as Papplewick were skittled out for 106 in 24.2 overs, Maaz Sheth (4-15) and Atik Dungaria (4-26) doing the damage for Clipstone.

Other results: Caythorpe 192 all out, beat Attenborough 170 all out, by 22 runs; Kimberley Institute 152-5, beat Cuckney 150 all out, by five wickets; Notts & Arnold Amateur 160 all out, lost to Collingham & District 164-3, by seven wickets; Wollaton 257-7, tied with Cavaliers & Carrington 257 all out.
