Ex-boss Legg pops up at charity match

FORMER Hucknall Town manager Andy Legg made a cameo appearance in the annual Christmas charity football match at Watnall Road.

Ex-Notts County and Wales defender Legg, who bossed The Yellows for eight months in 2007, popped up as a second-half substitute.

The match, which was organised by the Plough and Harrow pub on High Street, Hucknall, was between Plough All-Stars and Bestwood All-Stars.

It was held in memory of Steve Bentley, one of Hucknall's best footballers, who died of cancer in 1999 at the age of 46, and Ann Buckland, the former landlady of the Plough, who died in 2006 at the age of 54.

The match finished 2-2 with Mark Nangle and Steve Baldwin giving Bestwood a two-goal lead before Paul Plaskitt and Jimmy Cropley replied for Plough.

But more importantly, money was raised to boost the coffers of the oncology department at Nottingham City Hospital.
