Saturday’s hosts top the CML South but Hucknall, who are four points hehind with three games in hand, have won every league game they’ve played so far.

The latest was a 5-0 win over Mickleover RBL which left Graves happy with his players’ display.

He said: “It was a really pleasing performance which could have seen us hit double figures.

“Although I feel we are still open to more improvement, we have the big test away against Selston on Saturday but we should not go there lacking in confidence.”

Town exited the CMFL Floodlit Cup at Southwell on Tuesday but Graves, who fielded a very young side for that game, was encouraged by what he saw.

He added: “I wasn’t going to risk players that will be involved at Selston and it was a good opportunity to blood these lads at the higher level and they did really well and should take a lot of confidence into their own big game on Saturday against Eastwood.

“After the first 20 minutes they got to grips with the faster pace and competed well and made Southwell graft for their win.”
