Allen said: “Their manager has done a fantastic job, recruiting and putting together a really good team.

“He is a young manager who deserves a lot of credit.

“I think he is certainly one to look out for in the future for what he has done here.”

Murray said afterwards he has a lot of respect for Allen and to hear someone who has achieved so many managerial milestones say that sent shivers down his spine.

“I tried to get that across to our players that this was going to be a tough game. We acquitted ourselves very well.

“We looked dangerous going forward. We could have had a bit more care and quality in the final third.

“We were the team probably in the ascendancy in the second half.

“But we were just playing for fun. We can’t go up and we can’t go down.

“For the Mansfield, players, staff and supporters this was a big game and they had to beat us. That brings an added pressure and difficulty.

“The supporters perhaps expected to beat little Barnet and we ain’t little Barnet, we are a decent team who have had good form for a few months.”
