Central Midlands Round-up: Glapwell and Ollerton extend winning streak, Belper United stretch lead and Welbeck Welfare win at 14th time of asking

Glapwell made it ten wins in a row in the Black Dragon Badges North Division to stretch their lead to seven points over Phoenix, whose match fell victim to a waterlogged pitch.

Glapwell’s latest victims were third-placed Appleby Frodingham, with goals from Josh Thomas and Tom Norris sealing the points.

Ollerton Town boosted their winning run to five with a 3-2 scoreline at Dronfield Town reserves.

Jamie Charlton grabbed two in the first half with Kyle Ludlow increasing the advantage on the hour.

A late fightback saw Dronfield claw two back through Chaz Bradwell and Dan Hamilton, but it wasn’t enough to salvage a point.

Brodsworth Welfare pulled off an impressive 4-3 win over Retford with goals from Josh Bowkett, Brad Heaps, Bradley Maddison and Liam Taylor.

Retford recovered from three goals down, but were unable to level matters.

Welbeck Welfare managed maximum points at the 14th attempt as they won their basement battle with Dinnington Town 3-1 at Elkesley Road.

It was there first win since February, with two from Robbie Savage and Daniel Fisher the Welbeck scorers.

The result means the two sides exchange positions at the foot of the table.

Belper United are now four points clear at the top of the Black Dragon Badges South division after a 4-1 win at Linby Colliery.

Three goals in six minutes just before the break from Joe Conkleton, Lewis Mundin and Shaun Roulstone put Belper firmly in control.

Ben Stockley extended the lead on 55 minutes before Joe Butler’s consolation goal for Linby.

Hucknall Town had a convincing 4-1 win over Matlock Town reserves in the restaging of a game originally hit by a floodlight failure.

Free admission attracted a crowd of 206 who saw Kajally Danso and a Leon Aikman penalty put the home side in control.

Another spot-kick from Alex Hewitt put Matlock back in the game, but Aaron Evans and Cameron Davidson scored in the second half to ensure a home win. Blidworth struck six times at Keyworth United to come home with a 6-2 scoreline under their belts.

Max Curzon led the way with a hat trick, with Gaz Curtis (two) and Jeenan Leeds also scoring.

Holbrook St Michaels picked up their second win of the season with a 3-1 defeat of Collingham, with the goals coming from Ben Wallace (2) and Jordan Butcher.

Clay Cross Town and Hucknall Rolls drew 1-1 with Ryan Booker opening the scoring for the Millers on 16 minutes.

Rory Smith equalised five minutes after the interval.

The final place in the quarter-finals of the Buckingham Insurance League Cup goes to Bulwell, who ended a poor run of results by beating Harworth Colliery 4-3 at Greenwich Avenue.

The sides were level at half-time, with Jake Fisher (3) and Jay Knight scoring for the Bulls and Marley Alder and Kenzie Tomlinson levelling matters.

Fisher completed his hat-trick with two goals in four minutes.

Bulwell’s win means the South Division will supply six of the eight quarter-finalists.

It wasn’t a good afternoon for the two teams involved in County Cup competitions. Askern went down 5-0 at Farsley Celtic Juniors in the West Riding County Cup, while Southwell City let in nine at Unity in the Notts FA Intermediate Cup.
