Fans' affection could be key to Danny Rose staying at Mansfield Town
Rose put in a transfer request before the main transfer window closed, fully expecting a move to Peterborough United that did not materialise.
He remains on the list but has played an increasingly positive role from the bench and Flitcroft said: “He is a Mansfield Town player and we are hoping it will stay that way.

“I think if he does, our supporters will have played a massive part in that in the way they have received him, the affection they have got for him and the way they have supported him through a tough time.
“If we get through to 5pm Friday and Danny is still here then we will owe our supporters a massive debt of gratitude.
“The support he got the other night at West Brom was as affectionate and positive as I have ever seen.

Despite the transfer request, relations have stayed good between club and player.
“We have had constant communication and shown him respect and support,” said Flitcroft.
“He has come from a difficult time over the last few weeks.
“He is a lad who still wants to play for Mansfield Town, even though he handed in a transfer request. Like I’ve said I am not too sure that was his own decision.

“I saw possibly for the first time an absolutely committed performance down at West Brom that was Danny at his best from when I had him at Bury and Barnsley.
“I saw the commitment, desire and quality that he possesses and if we can get through to Friday night I am sure we will have a committed player on our hands.”
