Former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll will bring proven quality to Notts County, says Shaun Derry
Carroll agreed a one-year deal with the Magpies on Monday morning after impressing over two pre-season games for the club.
The 36-year-old Northern Ireland international has played at the highest level throughout his career, including the Premier League and Champions League with the likes of Manchester United and Olympiakos.

Hide AdDerry was delighted to add Carroll to his squad ahead of the 2014.15 Sky Bet League 1 opener against Preston North End at Deepdale.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “We lost a goalkeeper and you look at replacements, and we wanted a replacement that was full of experience.
“I think if someone was to say you’ve got a chance of signing someone who’s played in the Champions League and for his country, you’ve got to look at him.
“We’re just trying to bring in the right types first and foremost and he proved against Osasuna and Halifax what a capable goalkeeper he is.

“He’s got a history that stretches to some fantastic football clubs and as a young manager I want to learn from people as well.”
