Mansfield Town host An Evening With Jimmy McCaffrey

Mansfield Town supporters are invited to '˜An Evening with Jimmy McCaffrey' on Monday night (January 18) at One Call Stadium's Sandy Pate Sports Bar.

The evening starts at 7.30 and McCaffrey will be taking questions from the audience as the former winger remembers his career at the Stags after joining the club from Nottingham Forest in July 1972.

A former England youth international, he became a fans’ favourite and in total, McCaffrey made 178 league appearances for Mansfield and scored 21 League goals.

The Chad headline in arguably his best game for the Stags was ‘Four points clear as Lincoln are McCaffreyised’ when Mansfield beat the Imps 3-1 in 1975.

The Luton-born man still tries to attend One Call Stadium at least once a season, and Monday night will be the perfect opportunity to hear from McCaffrey about the trials and tribulations of being a professional footballer in his era.

McCaffrey, who also played for Northampton Town, Portsmouth and Huddersfield Town, was known for his abilities to cross the ball to the strikers from wide positions, with Ray Clarke and Terry Eccles in particular profiting from his fine graft from the wing.

Entry will be free and fans can also park, without charge, behind the Ian Greaves Stand.
