How did YOU rate the Stags players in Dons win

Stags performance overall – 7/10 – A much better showing than the Bury defeat on Saturday, digging in deep for the 2-1 win after seeming to have thrown away a winning position when the Dons equalised.

STAGS PLAYER BY PLAYER

Lenny Pidgeley 8 – A superb display from the former Chelsea stopper. He made two crucial saves and his handling was excellent all night. One of his clearances under extreme pressure even drew a round of applause.

Lee Beevers 8 – Another excellent showing from this experienced player, both with his defending, and also with his forward play, popping up with a rare goal to open the scoring on 56 minutes.

Martin Riley 6 – Another steady display from Riley, who didn’t let his internet spat with a section of supporters, distract him from the task in hand.

Ryan Tafazolli 6 – Recovered well from his nightmare game on Saturday to look stronger at the back. But it was his handball that gave the Dons a way back into the game from the spot and he was lucky with a challenge in stoppage time that some referees may have deemed a second penalty.

Callum Elder 8 – A steady first half, but was probably Mansfield’s best player in the second half, rampaging forward at every opportunity and taking players on. It was his burst of pace and cross that led to the winner. A quality player with a great future. A shame he’s Australian!

Jamie McGuire 8 – A lionheart performance from the little man in midfield. His battle with the super-sized Adebayo Akenfenwa was one of the highlights of the night. Sometimes lets himself down with stray passing. But he is a real motivational and inspirational figure on this sort of showing.

Reggie Lambe 6 – Didn’t produce much in the first half but was far more involved after the break and always worked hard to retrieve the ball when he gave it away.

Chris Clements 7 – Clements’ promptings gave the Dons plenty to think about and it was from one of his dead balls that Stags took the lead.

Junior Brown 5 – Occasionally showed glimpses of his capabilities but below par on the night and carved out very little in the way of chances.

Vadaine Oliver 6 – As always he worked hard, but his touch wasn’t quite there on the night and he didn’t cause too many problems for keeper Ross Wornor.

Billy Kee 6 – A rare start for Kee saw him trying to forge an embryonic partnership with Oliver. But a striker of his quality really should have scored when through after only five minutes, hitting the bar and then sending a follow-up header over the top. Rarely looked like scoring after that as he tired.

Jeffrey Monakana (for Brown 74mins) 7 – Was a livewire and twice came close to a goal, forcing a save from the keeper and then failing to get hold of his shot for the other chance.

Matt Rhead (for Oliver 75mins) 5 - Didn’t really get into the game coming on so late.

Rakish Bingham (for Kee 76mins) 8 – He was sent on late to get a winner, had one chance and buried it. What more could you ask? The hero of the night.
